The Astros have claimed 29-year old righty swinging 1B/OF Steve Pearce off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. Pearce played in 28 games for the Orioles earlier this year and he was 18 of 71 (.254 avg, .758 OPS) with 8 runs scored, 3 homers and 14 RBIs. He has now played in 213 games in his first six years in the majors and he is 126 of 536 (.235 avg, .679 OPS) with 58 runs scored, 12 homers, 66 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. This was a nice pickup for the Astros as Pearce was hitting the ball well for the Orioles earlier this year.
