Yao is off to a good start for the Houston Rockets

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Friday 30 November 2007 at 2:54 pm

The Rockets would probably like Yao to get a little more selfish on offense to help boost the Rockets scoring but he has played well so far this season. Yao has played in 16 games this season and he has averaged 22.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.1 blocked shots per game. Look for Yao’s scoring to go up in the near future and that will help the Rockets win-loss record.

Tracy McGrady will miss a few games for the Houston Rockets

Blogged under Big Rockets News, Bloglockers, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Thursday 15 November 2007 at 10:13 pm

Tracy McGrady will miss the next few games with a right elbow strain. In 9 games this season McGrady has averaged 35.8 minutes, 26.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Bonzi Wells will probably start at shooting guard while T-Mac is out and he should do a good job. Still, the Rockets will miss McGrady as he’s one of the best offensive players in the entire NBA.

The Rockets fell behind 61-49 in the first half and they couldn’t recover all of the way. It didn’t help that they only shot 35.3% from the floor or that T-Mac only scored 9 points in 19 minutes before leaving the game with an injury. Yao had a horrible shooting night (6 for 18) but he still finished with 26 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Bonzi Wells stuffed the stat sheet with T-Mac out as he scored 21 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out 2 assists, stole the ball 2 times and blocked 3 shots. Rafer Alston started at the point and he scored 11 points, grabbed 2 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. The Rockets are now 6-3 on the season.
