Utah Jazz 90, Houston Rockets 84

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General,The NBA Playoffs by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 April 2008 at 2:00 pm

The Houston Rockets lost this game partially because of an awful call on Luis Scola late in the game as Andrei Kirilenko flopped. But, the game was tied at the time so all the Rockets had to do the rest of the way was outplay the Jazz and they didn’t. Tracy McGrady led the way for the Rockets with 23 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Despite those fine numbers T-Mac has to show up in the 4th quarter of games as he only has 1 point in the 2 games of this series in the final quarter. Bobby Jackson did a good job stepping in for Rafer Alston as he scored 18 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 2 assists. Luis Scola had another decent game with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Aaron Brooks was solid off the bench with 11 points and 2 assists in only 18 minutes. The Rockets are now down 2-0 in this series.

I think the key word to the first statement in this post is the word “Partially”. I would say that was very partially due to the offensive foul call. If your game plan is so heavily weighted on the other team not “flopping” and the ref not calling any fouls, I’d say that you were screwed from the get go. Every team flops. The rockets flop. A lot. Its part of the game. If you can trick the ref to thinking you got fouled, its just as good as if you really had been fouled. I always take my hat off to a good flop. Even the ones that hurt my team. So your team is down 0-2 and now have to win 2 on the road. Are you really going to start blaming other people? Suck it up, and get ready to win 2 on the road. What the rockets are doing now, it sounds like they are giving up. Cause they sure as heck haven’t made any press conferences about how they plan on winning the series. All they are talking about is 1 foul call.

I agree with you. All the Rockets had to do was outplay the Jazz the rest of that game and they would have won it. They did step up last night and win at Utah which was impressive. I still think they will lose this series but you never know in the NBA.
