Kevin McHale did a good job in 2012-13 for the Houston Rockets

Blogged under Bloglockers, Coaching, Front Page, General by joelapinski on Monday 6 May 2013 at 7:26 am

55-year old head coach Kevin McHale had a solid 2012-13 for the Rockets.  He led them to a 45-37 (54.9%) record during the regular season and he got the Rockets to win a couple of playoff games in the first round against the heavily favored Oklahoma City Thunder.  McHale is now 79-69 (53.4%) during the regular season and 2-4 (33.3%) in the playoffs in his first two years on the job for the Rockets.  McHale is now 118-124 (48.8%) during the regular season in his first four years as an NBA head coach and he is 2-4 (33.3%) in the playoffs.  McHale had a rough time with issues of the court (the death of his daughter), so he might want to retire in the off-season….but the Rockets want him back.  Stay tuned.

Kevin McHale has the Houston Rockets playing well in 2012-13

55-year old head coach Kevin McHale has his Rockets playing pretty well so far this year. The Rockets are 16-13 (55.2%) on the season, which has them in 3rd place in the Southwest Division, 6 games behind the Spurs. The Rockets are now 50-45 (52.6%) during the regular season in McHale’s first two years on the job. The Rockets need McHale to keep up the good work as they want to end their playoff drought this season.

Kevin McHale is going to have to coach up the Houston Rockets in 2012-13

The Rockets dismantled the roster, but they then signed Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik to big deals. It will be interesting to see if 54-year old head coach Kevin McHale can whip his team into shape quickly, or if they will struggle big time in 2012-13. Only time will tell. McHale was 34-32 (51.5%) in his first season as the Rockets’ head coach. He is now 73-87 (45.6%) in his first three years as an NBA head coach. McHale’s hair is likely going to grow grayer as the season wears on.

Kevin McHale did a so-so job in his first year in charge of the Houston Rockets

The Rockets finished up with a 34-32 record (51.5%) in 54-year old Kevin McHale’s first year as the head coach. He seemed kind of strange in how he used players as he has constantly stiffing leader scorer Kevin Martin out of P.T. McHale is now 73-87 (45.6%) in his first three years as an NBA head coach. The Rockets hope that McHale is the right guy to get them back to the playoffs, starting in 2012-13.
